SSM Health Verona Outpatient Center
Integrated Art Group was honored to curate the artwork collection for SSM Health’s new Verona Outpatient Center in Verona, Wisconsin. From the beginning, SSM had a clear vision: create a collection rooted in the local landscape and community, with particular inspiration drawn from the Sugar River, surrounding trails, and the natural beauty of the Verona area.
Integrated Art Group joined the project during early development, as SSM was already collaborating with mosaic artist Gary Drostle on large-scale, site-specific mosaics that would serve as memorable wayfinding landmarks throughout the facility. Our role was to build a cohesive collection around those focal points, helping each department develop its own visual identity while staying connected to the broader story of the building.
A defining moment in the collection is River’s Pathway, a custom 16-foot wood sculpture commissioned from Wisconsin artist Aaron Laux for the facility’s dramatic two-story glass vestibule. Inspired by the gentle movement, serpentine curves, and natural forms of the nearby Sugar River, the sculpture is enhanced with backlighting, creating a striking visual landmark both day and night.
